Introducing BBV

January 30, 2010

Meet BBV, MongoQuest’s faithful mascot. He’s been travelling with us since the great Six States in Five Days trip over 4th of July 2007. Here he is in front of the Grand Tetons. We picked him up along with breakfast at the McDonald’s drive thru window on our way out of town and the rest is history…

Let’s get this out of the way right now: BBV stands for Baby Burn Victim. Please understand we’re in no way making fun of burn victims, but rather the disasterous mischaracterization of the Scarecrow by Madame Alexander.

Since then, BBV has hit the road with us countless times… On a typical day, he rides on the dash of our Toyota Camry between the alien bobblehead and Dalek air freshener.
Recently, I discovered that Jose had looked up replacement BBVs on eBay. I’m relatively sure this is our original BBV, but now I can never be certain.

Not in BBV’s fan club: my brother Bobby. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we went through 3 or 4 different BBVs during our Europe 2009 trip alone. But I think all the great pics of BBV at Eiffel Tower and in front of the Mona Lisa were worth it!
